Samir Eid, from a family of bakers, established Honeytop Speciality Foods in London
1987
Honeytop became the first company to market naan bread and tortilla wraps commercially.
William and Charles Eid, the sons of Samir, assumed control of Honeytop, with a mission to introduce ‘Breads of the World’ to the UK market, in 1989 and 1994 respectively.
1994
Naan breads started to become increasingly popular. ‘Clean room technology’ was pioneered, helping the company to become market leaders in the supply of long-life ethnic products.
1994
Honeytop began production of Long Life Naans for leading UK Brands and retailers.
1995
Honeytop began to produce naan breads for another leading UK retailer.
1999
Honeytop relocated to larger premises in Dunstable to accommodate increasing customers and product range.
2001
Honeytop became the leading flatbread manufacturer in the UK, with products being exported throughout Europe and the Middle East.
2008
Signature Foods Ltd was established in India, capitalising on a lack of large scale suppliers of quality Indian breads. The company now caters to the domestic market and exports to the near and far east.
2011
ARYZTA acquired Honeytop Speciality Foods UK from the Eid brothers.
2012
The Eid brothers set up an innovation centre to support Signature Foods in India. Innovations now feed directly into Signature Flatbreads by identifying and developing ground-breaking new products and processes to bring to market.
2015
Signature Flatbreads is launched as a joint venture between ARYZTA and Charles and William Eid, replacing Honeytop Speciality Foods.
2018
Signature Flatbreads Returns to Family Roots
Signature Flatbreads, the UK’s leading flatbread producer, has agreed to acquire the shareholding of its Joint Venture partner, Aryzta, thereby returning the company to its family roots.
